Well……even though the temperature is still in the 90′s, event pros look to the upcoming season and what are the trends. August 16, 2012 was the event sponsored by Perfect Wedding Guide and Cheekwood for the event industry. It was a contest between 3 designers, Branching Out being one of those. Happy to report that we won all the decor divisions, plus Best of Show. We mixed velvet, satin and burlap..along with mercury glass, crystals, birch covered containers, pine cones and deer antlers to give a warm winter’s evening feel. Enjoy!
Garden Wedding at Cheekwood With a Vintage Touch
Now that it is SO hot here in Nashville, it is great to look back at our weddings from the spring..when it was pleasantly warm and delightful in the gardens of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. The bride chose navy, white, green and yellow as her colors….she wanted just a touch of vintage..and a touch of “preppy”…makes a great look. Hope you agree! She used some of our vintage milk glass and iron containers, our white lanterns (with navy & white stripe ribbon of course)..vintage coffee urn for the java bar…and lush florals in yellow, white and green. Enjoy!
Chic Contemporary Summer Wedding at Cheekwood
I recently had the pleasure of designing the florals for Krista and Jevon’s wedding, which was held on the grounds of Cheekwood. Krista loves loves loves purple orchids..and as you can see, I used lots of purple vanda orchids for her bouquet. She wanted the bridesmaids to have a loose, garden feel and to bring in the yellow..freesia was used to accomplish that…and they smell so wonderful as well.
The centerpieces were a mix of purple vanda orchids and green goddess calla lillies….all in clear glass vases, which brought a cooling effect to the table. Krista had purchased fabulous chargers for the dinner plates, some in purple and some in fern green. To honor the Chihuly exhibit on the grounds, she also had purchased votive holders that mimicked the blown glass effect of the exhibit.
Thanks so much to the wonderful photos from Meishach Moore, who not only is a fabulous photographer, but a delightful vendor to work with!
Cheekwood wedding in lavender and purple
Lavenders and purples were a hit this year in weddings…and our bride, Robin Finelli, loved the colors as you can see! I thought her bridesmaids’ dresses were just stunning..and Robin a gorgeous bride. It was a rainy rainy day all over Nashville and at Cheekwood..but Robin didn’t let that bother her at all…she planned on an outdoor ceremony and as luck would have it….she had one. The rain stopped and the ceremony did go on as planned..what a lucky couple! The reception was in Botanic Hall at Cheekwood, a great place for a Nashville wedding reception.
I love using our glass pedestals…when it is dark and the lights are low, they really reflect the votives.
The flowers that were tied to the chairs as pew markers were moved to the doors of the reception.
