Elegant wedding reception at Loew’s Vanderbilt Nashville

This weekend was a complete change in style from the recent wedding receptions we have designed. Our bride, Sarah Batten, wanted a traditional, elegant feel to her wedding,an in so doing, chose the ballroom at Nashville’s Loew’s Vanderbilt Hotel. Sarah chose pink as her main color and added chocolate brown to bring in the season. We used some of our many silver containers to add to the elegant flair. Blake Chaffin, Nashville Event Lighting, worked his usual magic by spotlighting each centerpiece, which really makes a huge difference in the look. Sarah’s coordinator, Gail Vandygriff and staff were a delight to work with, along with the staff from Connie Duglin Linens (love the chocolate overlays), and music provided by Spangler Entertainment. These photos were taken by me, a florist/event designer, NOT a photographer. Can not wait to see the fabulous photos I know will be coming from Gray Photography! I am so fortunate(and so are my brides) to have Christine Boulton on my crew for setup, who is a retired couture cake designer (now a wedding marketing guru). Look at the fabulous job Christine did with hydrangea on the cake! Of course kudos to the rest of my staff, Jodi and Sims, another great job guys!

Wedding reception at new rooftop venue in Nashville

This past weekend, we designed a wedding reception at our newest rooftop venue in Nashville, called One Eleven. Cool place, hot day! We used hot colors of orange, hot pink, lime green to give a pop to the glass and concrete structure. The bride wanted to bring in some element from her home state of Georgia, so we used peaches in some of the stemmed glassware, with battery operated lampshades. A fun element was in the entryway, using one of our iron trees, hanging floral balls…each guest wrote a card with suggestions for a happy marriage and hung them on the tree. Traditional flowers of hydrangea and roses were used, along with the contemporary use of green and orange orchids. SoBro Catering created the menu, with rentals from Liberty Party Rental. Love their new highboy cocktail tables, which require no linens, for a contemporary look.

Summer Blues (and yellows!)wedding reception at the Hermitage Hotel

Janna Konze was our third bride for the weekend of Labor Day, and what a delightful bride she was!  Janna chose the color scheme of blue and yellow. SInce we are at the cusp of fall, she chose to use the fall colors of blue, rather than the light blues of summer. Above is a shot of the head table, which was in the ballroom of the Hermitage Hotel. using antique fall blue hydrangea, yellow and cream roses and blue delphinium. A mix of centerpiece glass containers were used throughout the ballroom, all using the same color scheme. Glass gives such a romantic glow with mulitudes of votive candles! Pictured below are our traditional style glass pedestals and our glass “cake plate” containers, which give a nice show for not so much money, as not many flowers are needed for that look, with so many candles on the table.  We submerged hydrangea in one of our 28″ glass pilsner vases for the escort card table, which was a look the Janna liked to incorporate her contemporary side.  The cake, by Nashville’s French Confection was a show stopper….a cake this size takes MANY hydrangea…but don’t you think its worth it? The ceremony was held at Belmont Methodist Church, and all was executed with flawless perfection by her wedding planner, Alice Hendry. Can’t wait to receive the really professional photos from our friends, the Emmitts of Divine Images!

Country Chic Wedding at Cheekwood

The second wedding we designed on Labor Day weekend was a casual, country look for our bride Virginia Lee Wallace. Virginia chose Cheekwood for her ceremony in the garden, with the reception in the courtyard of the Frist Learning Center on the grounds of Cheekwood. The bride wanted very causual, colorful and country designs. We used red, yellow, orange and white gladiolas in French flower buckets on a farm table for her “altar”. Love the look.  The bridesmaids carried clutches of gerber daisies, with the centerpieces designed in glass “mason jars”, usually used for home food canning….a real country touch!

Summer Wedding Reception by the Pool

WOW! What a busy Labor Day weekend here in Nashville for Branching Out Floral and Event Design. These shots are from a very chic wedding reception held at a private home in Brentwood, TN.

The bride and groom wanted to entertain their friends by the pool, and the groom loves water, so tropicals were the logical choice here. These photos are of course during daylight, but when the sun set, these designs were uplit from the base and the “lamps” are battery operated. So cool!

Lavender & Celedon Wedding on a Late Summer’s Night

This weekend, August 23rd, we again worked with one of Nashville’s top wedding planners, Alice Hendry, to design a wedding reception for such a nice bride, Joann Pulles.

The weather was cooler than normal for August and the first winds from a tropical storm in the Gulf were just reaching the Middle Tennessee area. Great for the comfort level of guests, not too great for keeping candles lit outdoors! Joann chose lavender and celedon green for her main colors.

The event was held The Governor’s Club, Pleasant Hill Mansion. In keeping with the mansion, the florals inside the venue had a rather old garden, antique look. The green Depression glass containers are a new find here at Branching Out. I love the look.

The outside was a different story ,with the lounge furniture, tables, chairs and linens from our friends at Music City Tents & Events…definitely a more modern, contemporary look.Lounge look cocktail reception

I can’t wait to see the photos from Shannon Jenkins Photography

Hot Colors Contemporary Wedding Reception

Contemporary Floral Focal pointThis past Saturday, Aug.18th the design team at Branching Out had so much fun working with our bridal couple, Dana and Josh! What a good looking, fun couple they are, which is reflected in the decor colors they chose. The wedding itself was very traditional at Woodmont Christian Church in Green Hills (Nashville), with the bridesmaids dressed in hot coral satin gowns. Floral bouquets were green hydrangea, hot coral roses and green hypericum berries. But boy oh boy did the “traditional” fly out the window when guests arrived at the Musicians’ Hall of Fame, one of the unique venues Nashville has to offer. Below is a sneak peek at the reception decor, with the large display that greeted guests as they walked into the outside courtyard. Dana gave me full reign to do whatever I would like in that space….so for height we went with orange and yellow gladiolas…and the rest just fell into place. (We had a great time going through our extensive supply of containers, etc. trying out different looks to get that WOW factor). The other photo is one of the guest tables with the battery operated “lamps”. Some tables floral designs were uplit from the base, some were yellow wispy oncinium orchids, etc. FUN FUN FUN. The food display was scrumptious (bet it tasted good too), as the catering was supplied by Chef’s Market, who always do a fantastic job. Can’t wait for the photos from Dana and Josh’s photographer…Paul WhartonAn orchid lamp

Preview of Hansen wedding in Nashville

Orchid chandelierThis past Friday night Branching Out had the pleasure of working with a lovely bride, Ashley Hansen to design the floral decor for her wedding. I just took a few shots of the setup as we were working. This event was held at Radius 10, a great hot new restaurant in Nashville in the “Gulch” area. The reception was not only inside the entire restaurant, but a tent was added to the patio area as well. A great deal of planning and coordination by Alice Hendry, Ashley’s wedding planner.

One photo is of the cocktail area as the guest arrived…note that this photo was taken in daylight..and as it turned dark and the house lights were down, these cylinders are uplit from the base with battery operated halogen spotlights.

On the guest tables, we used various glass containers (beakers, bulb vases, squares, rounds, etc) with stems of purple denrobium orchids, green cymbidium orchids, purple freesia…for a clean, cool, refreshing look.

In the center of the tent, a “chandelier” of hand strung orchids, each with lavender or green crystals.(Thanks to Jodi & Christine..my design team) The weather was delightful, not hot at all..and a nice breeze was blowing, so this slowly turned..as if by magic!

Can’t wait to see the real pro’s photo…David Wright Photography..we’ll let you know when those are up!
